School zone: Benefits to home-schooling

HOUSTON – It’s estimated that at least two million kids across the country are home-schooled, and more than 300,000 of those children live in Texas.
This form of education continues to be a popular alternative to public schools for many families.
“Every year we have more and more families being unhappy with the school system, and they’re coming to home schooling,” said Joanne Juren. She owns the HEP Bookstore which sells home schooling supplies.
Experts say that home schooling is growing by as much as 15 percent every year.
