According to the Netzwerk Bildungsfreiheit website, Jim Montgomery, the husband of Clonlara founder Pat Montgomery, died on 15 December during a heart bypass operation.
(my translation) Pat Montgomery full-heartedly supported the German homeschooling movement. In the summer of 2003, she traveled from the USA to a meeting for the initiative for self-learning and the BVNL. The wonderful stories that Pat told us, how children and young people learn, are unforgettable. In the summer of 2005, Pat came back and made a tour through Germany to buoy the courage of home- and unschoolers in their continuing struggle against the German compulsory schooling laws. She made a worthwhile contribution to homeschoolers of all styles through the work with the movement. Clonlara Germany was founded, which has well over a hundred families to look after. In April of this year, Pat was a speaker at the International Colloquium on Home Education at Rothenfels Castle, accompanied by her daughter Chandra, who has been the business manager of Clonlara USA for over two years.
Pat and Chandra were loved by all who experienced their open and sincere manner. With the both of them, we mourn the losss of their husband and father.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Pat Montgomery and Chandra Montgomery Nicol!
