Kids compete in Lego League, 14 December 2007, Biloxi Sun Herald, Biloxi, Mississippi

Nearly 800 middle school students from across South Mississippi recently filled the gymnasium at the Jackson County campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for one thing: Legos.

Khidari Barksdale was one of the many home-schooled children who came to the event. His mother found out about the event last year on the Internet. “I want to be an artist, a designer, probably an engineer,” Barksdale said, naming his Lego design the NXT 3000.
