Just as journalists write about homeschooling from their own point of view, cartoonists draw their mini-stories while referencing their own beliefs about homeschooling.
Recent cartoons point up the differences:
- Luann: benefits of “social interaction” at school
- New Yorker: homeschool ‘prom’
I don’t find the Luann cartoon to be too different from what many kids endure at school, but I find it curious that the New Yorker cartoonist characterizes the homeschooled teen as an oddball yet has his parents being average-looking. I can’t figure out that one.
