Financial Home Schooling, 25 April 2007, Washington Post, Washington, D.C. What was the hook to get them to sit still for 40 minutes? The next raise in their allowances was contingent upon it.
At a time when financial independence is increasingly a function of an individual’s money management skills, we owe it to our children to ensure that they are prepared.
It begins at home. Anything the schools might offer is icing on the cake.

Um, just out of curiosity, when was financial independence not a function of an individual’s money management skills? Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t see the “increasingly” part there. Not that this really has anything to do with the article. I’m just wondering.
And just out of principle I wonder how well a system which itself is hardly managing its money well can teach children to do otherwise? (Referring to the schools, of course).
