Hello friends! I’m Amy from Mod Podge Rocks and Decor Hacks, among a few other blogs. I like a lot of things, but I really like the color blue, sock monkeys and warm beverages. Considering that winter is the time for warm beverages and for gifts, I painted a mug that you can give to a friend, family member or neighbor. With so many people to give gifts, it’s always nice to have a stand by project that you can mass produce. This painted mug is one of those projects. Here’s how to do it:
Gather These Supplies
- Ceramic Mug
- Martha Stewart Adhesive Stencils – Snowflakes
- Martha Stewart Foam Pouncers
- Martha Stewart Glass Paint – Antique Pewter, Aquarium
You won’t believe how easy this is.
Make sure to clean the surface of your mug. Smooth down your adhesive stencil carefully.
Use the foam pouncer to apply the silver paint. It’s better to use less paint and more coats than to glob it on. I did a few layers.
Peel the stencil off immediately and let dry to the touch. I always wash the stencil immediately.
Then use the snowflake stencils in different sizes. Smooth them onto the mug inside the dotted silver oval.
Then pounce on the snowflakes. Keep repeating until both sides are painted
Here’s the finished design up close so that you can see the metallic paint. Isn’t it pretty? This didn’t take long to make, and I could do about 200 at once! Okay, maybe not that many . . . I hope you’ll give a painted mug a try – you’ll have so much fun, and the gift recipient will love it. Maybe tuck some coffee or hot cocoa into the mug to make it extra special?
